Julie’s Sandwich Bar offers freshly made sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes, filled oatcakes & salad bowls.

I went for the Chicken Club Bap at £2.10 although opt for a wagon if you’ve got a big appetite!! I phoned my order through & the cheery voice on the end of the line asked me when I wanted it for & I said about 20 minutes.

So, 20 minutes later I took a stroll down to the shop & my sarnie was all ready for me to collect! The service was just as friendly in person as it was on the phone so top marks there!

My sarnie however wasn’t exactly what I was expecting! There was lots of chicken but also a lot of Mayo making it difficult to tell what else was in there! Some lettuce maybe & definitely onion?!

The bap was quite big so I’m intrigued to find out how big a Wagon is! I have to say that, all doubts aside, I couldn’t deny that it tasted good & I got a lot for my money.

Hot sandwiches are also available, eg. Bacon & Egg at £1.85 & a mouth watering selection of “Hot Roasts” including Roast Pork or Roast Chicken & Stuffing at £2.30 a sandwich.

Jackets start from £1.30 & Oatcakes from 80p. If you don’t fancy a sandwich Julie’s also offer a selection of Wright’s Pies from 85p.

I do like getting good value for money & I’ll definitely try Julie’s again but will I manage a Wagon next time? Watch this space!!

Fatso’s 2 Go.

8 Church lane, Stafford, ST16 2AW, Tel 01785 258338 LOCATION!

Fatso’s 2 Go opened in Stafford in March & like its partner in the north end of town it offers good quality food to takeaway. Choose from hot & cold Sandwiches & Baguettes, Wraps, Jacket Potatoes, Toasties, Paninis & Salad bowls.

Feeling particularly hungry one lunchtime I decided to try a Chicken Salad Baguette at £2.60. Now I must admit I was expecting the crusty, crunchy style Baguette, instead I was presented with a soft Torpedo roll but it was so generously filled I couldn’t be disappointed!

As well as tons of chicken, there were salad leaves, cucumber, tomato & onion (they do check that you want onion as it can make you a little anti-social!!)

It was a really satisfying sandwich, almost a meal in itself! Everything is freshly made to order including the salad bowls. Other examples of what’s on offer are Chicken Tikka Wrap at £2.90, Cheese & Onion Toastie at £1.90 & Bacon & Brie Panini at £2.80. A basic salad bowl is £2.30 & fillings range from Cheese at 60p to Spicy Chicken Goujons at £1.20.

Also available are Smoothies at £2.50 & Milkshakes at £1.90, hot & cold drinks, crisps, choccie bars, fresh fruit salad pots & yoghurts.

The service was friendly if a bit slow but they were still finding their feet at the time & getting used to the system! No complaints about the sarnie though, now I just have to decide what to have next time!!
