1. Location, Location, Location!!

weddingbells

Nowadays when choosing a venue for your wedding ceremony & reception the possibilities are endless! You can tie the knot it some unusual places-football clubs, racecourses, steam railways for a wedding with a difference or castles & stately homes for a fairytale wedding! It’s important that you choose somewhere to suit your tastes & personalities that will make your day unforgettable!
There are also some other points to consider, for example: Is it going to be formal or informal? How many guests are you inviting? Some venues, mainly hotels, will do a lot of the planning for you which can ease some of the stress!

2. Food For Thought!!

Deciding on what food to serve your hungry guests will depend on what style of wedding you’re going for.
If its informal a Barbeque & Hog Roast is a great idea for a relaxed setting or maybe a buffet or canapes for a touch of elegance! If you opt for a traditional sit down meal your guests may need to make their choices from the menu beforehand, & you can arrange for a copy to be sent with the invitations.
As for the cake, people still go for the traditional tiered style, but how about about a chocolate sponge instead of fruit cake? If you really want a break from the norm, chocolate fountains & profiterole towers are becoming more popular!

3. What a Picture!!

Take the time to select a good photographer & if you can go on recommendation from friends or family. If not visit at least three photographers ,go through their portfolios & look at the different styles of photography.
When you’ve chosen a photographer meet with them to choose the style-traditional or reportage-of photos & locations-consider the time of year & whether there will be any other weddings going on at the same time at your chosen venue.

4. Looking Absolutely Fabulous!!

weddress

Most girls have fatasized about their wedding dress for most of their lives, but even if you think you know exactly what you want try to keep an open mind! For brides it’s never too early to start looking for the perfect dress or outfit. Bridal shops can get very busy so it’s a good idea to make appointments. Try on different styles & experiment with colours-its more acceptable now for the bride to wear colours other than white! If you have decided on your bridesmaids start to plan their outfits too, take into consideration their ages & even let them choose their own style but sticking to your colour scheme!
Also book any hair appointments, manicures & beauty treatments well in advance. Most beauty salons do wedding packages so the bride & her entourage can feel thoroughly pampered!
For the groom there’s also a good choice, traditional morning dress is still popular or how about a tailor made sharp suit? Many grooms now go for kilts for themselves & their best men & there are many, many tartans to choose from. Nowadays, as with a lot of things, pretty much anything goes when it comes to dressing for a wedding. If you & your bride share a particular interest eg. Rock ‘n’ Roll or Sci-Fi you can use it as a theme for your wedding! Whatever you decide on make sure you look fabulous!!

5. Roses are Red, Violets are Blue!!

Once you have decided on a colour scheme, you can start choosing flowers for your big day! Again go on recommendations before choosing your florist & discuss with them what you’re after & take swatches of fabric from the outfits to colour co-ordinate the flowers. Look through bridal magazines & keep pictures of bouquets & arrangements, take these along when you go & see the florist & don’t forget to tell them if there is a special theme.
Your florist can also provide table decorations for the reception & these can all be co-ordinated to match the style & design of your invitations & place settings, oh, & don’t forget the party favours!
there are so many choices now for table decorations, candles, flowers, ribbons & all these things are available to buy in shops so if you’re feeling creative why not give your wedding a personal touch & make them yourself (just give yourself plenty of time!)

6. Let Them Entertain You!!

Getting the right music for your big day is just as important as everything else! Sit down with your husband/wife to be & decide what sort of music you want, think about the ceremony- there may be a special song that you both love that the bride can walk down the aisle to. Then there’s the reception, string quartets, pianists, harpists...the options are endless, but something subtle is a good idea while your guests are eating!
For the evening you can liven it up with a D.J. or a band! Don’t forget your first dance, again choose a favourite song that’s special to you. You could also take some ballroom or salsa lessons in the run up top the big day to make that first dance extra special & of course dazzle your guests!
To entertain the little ones (& big kids!) how about a bouncy castle? For indoor fun what about a clown or face painting, magicians are popular with kids & adults so everyone can be entertained!

7. Your Chariot Awaits!!

Think about the theme of your wedding first. If you’re going for traditional a horse drawn carriage or vintage car can ooze elegance! If you like your transport with a touch of bling a limo will get you there A-list style!
For the groom, well he could be James Bond for the day in a funky sports car (Aston Martin DB5 to be precise!-Steve stafford247).
Your guests can also be transported in style too, an old fashioned red double decker bus is a fun way to ferry everyone about & keep them all together!
