The beautiful Italian Gardens were officially opened in 2005 by HRH Prince Andrew. Originally designed by Sir Charles Barry in the 19th Century, they have been given a stunning makeover by award winning garden designers Tom Stuart-Smith & Piet Oudolf.
Walking around these amazing floral displays one can only imagine the hard work that has gone in to a project like this! The viewing platform allows you to see the gardens just as guests of Trentham Hall would have done in years gone by. This is defintley worth a look-remember to bring your camera!

Amongst the many areas to see in the gardens are the Western Pleasure gardens which has a range of attractions for all the family including a “Hide & Speak Maze” for you to get lost in & the “100 Ideas Garden” where you can gain some inspiration for your own back garden!
Get some refreshment at the Garden Tea Rooms while the kids go wild in the activity park & try the Barfuss Park walk. This is a barefoot walk along a path of different textures like sand, mud & fir cones-a real back-to-nature experience! There’s even a shower at the end so you can wash your mucky tootsies!!
There is a charge to enter the gardens but we felt it was money well spent!!

~Woodland Discovery.

What better way to learn more about nature than a woodland discovery trail?! All walks are clearly signposted & are suitable for experienced walkers or those just wanting a casual stroll!
See Black Fallow Deer on the deer lawn, watch Herons & Kingfishers share the lake with Otters & all the other wildlife & flowers that live in the woodland itself! There’s also a Leaf Trail in which you can find out about all the trees that surround you!

Stafford 247 Verdict? Trentham Estate has truly been transformed into an excellent day out for all the family. Although not cheap, the variety of activities, shops & eateries shows why it become so popular & why scores of people are visiting every day. The ever growing list of attractions is sure to keep people returning year after year!!
