Canal Cruising Company Limited was established in 1948 & is based in Stone. Boats range from a small 34 feet one that sleeps 2 or three people upto the 70 foot ones that sleep 8!.They cater for short breaks or weekly hre of the boats. The Milford Star passenger narrowboat offers a great selection of trips from public cruises, private charter, corporate hire & school trips with room for upto 40 people! The Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal is a canal in the Midlands of England, passing through Staffordshire and Worcestershire. It runs 46 miles (74 km) from the River Severn at Stourport in Worcestershire to the Trent and Mersey Canal at Great Haywood.  The canal was opened in 1772, built by engineer James Brindley as part of his Grand Cross plan for waterways connecting Hull, Liverpool and Bristol.In 1959 the canal was planned to be closed, but was saved through the efforts of a volunteer group - the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal Society.
